A breathtaking choreographed experience that is free to watch. The fountains dance to music, offering a constantly changing show. Check the times, especially in the evening (the best time), to make sure you see them in action.

The Sphere
Although slightly off the central Strip, it is a visual attraction not to be missed, especially in the evening, thanks to its dynamic LED display that makes it the largest spherical structure in the world at 112 meters high.
The exterior, called Exosphere, is entirely covered with millions of LEDs that project dynamic and breathtaking animations and images, transforming the Las Vegas skyline.

The Mirage Volcano
A free (somewhat vintage) pyrotechnic and aquatic show with flames, music, and a simulated eruption. Check the evening schedule to enjoy the full effect.

The Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian
Stroll through the Venetian's indoor shopping mall in a surreal atmosphere that recreates Venice. Admire the indoor canals and gondolas, complete with gondoliers rowing and singing. (Here's the trick: the gondolas are powered by an electric motor controlled by a button under the gondolier's foot!)

The Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas
An iconic reproduction of the Eiffel Tower. You can climb to the top (for a fee) for a spectacular panoramic view of the Strip, especially at sunset or at night.

The Open-Air Show at Caesars Palace: The outdoor area and entrance of this legendary hotel are architectural works of art inspired by ancient Rome.

The history of the LGBT community in LAS VEGAS is a story of resilience and progressive acceptance, which has transformed “Sin City” into an inclusive destination.

🌟 THE FIRST MEETING PLACES (1960s - Early 1970s)

Despite the atmosphere of “freedom” and debauchery in Las Vegas, the environment for LGBT people in those years was not welcoming.
LGBTQI+ people met in hidden and private spaces due to strict laws against sodomy and the risk of police raids.
Although homosexuality was stigmatized and the community lived “in the shadows,” bars and clubs provided the first refuges.
The Red Barn, which opened in 1958 as an antique store, turned into a bar that served a predominantly gay clientele at night. In the early 1970s, it became one of the first openly gay bars in Las Vegas.

During the same years, openly gay performers such as Kenny Kerr (star of the Boy-Lesque drag show at the Silver Slipper) helped raise the community's profile in the city. Although he never publicly came out, pianist and showman Liberace (who lived in Vegas for many years) became an unofficial icon for the community with his flamboyant style and visibility on the Strip, subtly challenging heteronormative norms.

✊ THE BIRTH OF ACTIVISM (1970s-1980s)

In the wake of the Stonewall Riots (1969), the gay liberation movement also reached Las Vegas.
In 1976, the Gay Academic Union established a presence in the city.
In 1978/1979, the Nevadans for Human Rights (NHR) organization was born, the first gay rights group in Nevada, which also published the community newspaper “Vegas Gay Times.”
Las Vegas' first PRIDE celebration was held in May 1983 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), marking an important milestone in visibility.

⚖️ THE LAWS (1990s - 2010)

In 1993, Nevada's laws criminalizing same-sex relationships (“sodomy laws”) were repealed, a crucial step toward equality.
In 1999, Nevada was one of the first states to implement a hate crime law that included sexual orientation.
In 2011, explicit protections for sexual orientation and gender identity against discrimination in employment and other areas were added.
In 2014, a U.S. Supreme Court ruling declared Nevada's ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, leading to the immediate legalization of marriage equality in the state.

The “Fruit Loop” is the nickname given to the area around Paradise Road, just off the Strip, which has become Las Vegas' main district for gay bars, clubs, and businesses. Clubs such as Piranha Nightclub and Gipsy have become the center of gay nightlife.

PERCEPTION
