Arcigay has been working on the health of LGBTQIA+ people for some time now: it's a very broad area of work that touches on various issues, from sexual health to the fight against HIV and other STIs, from psychological well-being to substance use/abuse, from suicide risk to the issue of aging.

The association's goal is to help LGBTQIA+ people take full control of their health and well-being, despite the social inequalities that still characterize the lives of LGBTQIA+ people and that also have an impact on their health.

Due to social inequalities, in fact, LGBTQIA+ people are at greater risk of facing health-related problems and challenges than heterosexual people. With regard to the specific issue of sexual health and the fight against HIV, Arcigay considers it a priority and works to ensure that prevention respects the right to a fulfilling sexuality and includes the elimination of the stigma related to HIV that still burdens people living with HIV.

Since its inception, Arcigay Florence has worked in the health sector, becoming part of Florence Fast Track City, which brings together STDs that deal with HIV at the Municipality of Florence, training its volunteers on health and prevention issues, offering specific and competent advice; it offers HIV and other STI tests at its headquarters every second Friday of the month, as well as on-demand tests in suitable locations.
